$25 Million Gift Is Largest ߣƵ Has Ever Received | The Enterprise

An unrestricted gift of $25 million was made to the Marine Biological Laboratory (ߣƵ) this week. It is the largest private contribution the institution has received in its 137-year history.
The unrestricted contribution will be dispersed over a period of five years, at $5 million per year. ߣƵ Director Nipalm Patel said the funds will be put to use in the institution’s operating budget and will cover salaries and other expected expenses that support day-to-day operations.
The gift is from Mark Terasaki, who has had a decades-long relationship with ߣƵ, where he studied after earning a doctorate from the University of California, Berkeley. Currently, he is an associate professor at the University of Connecticut Health Center’s Department of Cellular Biology. .
